Three cheers to CNN’s John King for his GUTS tonight atThe Magic Wall. In response to the 47% debate, he interjected something more MEANINGFUL than his usual dazzling “magic wall” statistics-juggling. He offered up his own childhood experience as a LIVING, BREATHING statistic. That’s something I haven’t seen a newscaster do in a long, long time. His heartfelt admission of being on food stamps
for a bit as a kid (and how ashamed they felt about it) showed real courage & dignity, something the Romneys of this world seem to think is the exclusive domain of the upper middle class. Well guess what Mitt- you will NEVER know the kind of dignity it takes to raise four kids by yourself while scrubbing rich people’s toilets and not being able to make ends meet, yet making your kids believe (despite having to get that “free lunch” at school) that they can grow up to MAKE SOMETHING OF THEMSELVES, and maybe try to pay it forward a bit. Just maybe. In short, Mr. Romney…. SUCK IT.
